Thanks to archae_ology for the beta.

He felt guilty as all hell. He could’ve given her one last night of feeling alive, but he let his own feelings creep in and complicate the moment. He knows that he didn’t love her; he knows the difference between love and lust. But as she had said, when you lived on the front lines, you took what you could get.

He knew that. He’d been on those lines too. Had he forgotten? Perhaps he’d grown soft since coming to Babylon 5. He thought he’d kept his edge, and in many ways he had, when it came to his job that is. But when it came to his heart, he knows better. So many lost chances and so many wrong choices have made him hesitant to give in to raw, primal emotion, but now she was gone. He could have let her have that moment. But that moment was gone. Dodger was gone; Garibaldi would have to make sure she wasn’t forgotten.

A/N: Written some time ago for the LiveJournal challenge comm, 5trueloves. This is the second in the series of six ficlets, and they'll be posted in chronological order as they fit into the series timeline.
